Killdroid Teaser! And More Photos!

June 22, 2008

So I did a little more sleuthing on this upcoming film that I wrote about before. The film is called Killdroid: A Mechanical Love Affair, and is directed by Filipino auteur Rico Maria Ilarde. Anyway, it turns out that the film’s teaser has been released by its US distributor, Mondo Macabro.

And holy shit, was that terrible. Not “terrible” in a “so bad it’s bound to be awesome kind of like Snakes On A Plane-terrible,” but just “terrible-terrible.”

I don’t know, there’s something about scoring Filipino movies that makes it seem like they’ve been using the same intruments and technology since the 1980s. The cinematography is beautiful, though. But it was poorly paced and THERE WERE NO TITS.

Considering how they’ve initially marketed this as an erotic gorefest, they should’ve went for the jugular and released a 2-minute red band montage of blood and tits. I’m hoping that that would be the case when they shell out a new trailer.

List-O-Rama: The Ten Best Music Videos From Movie Soundtracks (Part 1 of 2)

June 20, 2008

I know it’s been a while since I updated the site, but I have an excuse: YOUR SISTER! OH SNAP! What?

Anyway, life was getting in the way, and I do apologize for the lack of updates. Stupid life and its lifey ways.

As for this list, please bear with me because it takes a bit of explanation. I am listing down the ten best music videos of songs that are made specifically for movie soundtracks. As if theme songs weren’t obscure enough these days, moreso would be the art of coming up with a kick-ass music video to tie in with and promote your movie.

There are a few gems out there, but we all know how lazy studios can get sometimes. They shoot a video and simply sneak some scenes in from their movie. Some don’t even bother shooting a video, they just conjure a mishmash of sequences and call it a day.

But there is one exception:

#10: The RZA, Young DB and Reverend William Burke  “Beat You Down” (from The Protector)

Again, it doesn’t really count as a legitimate music video if every frame was ripped entirely from a movie. Unless of course said movie involves Tony Jaa, some elephants, gunshots, fire, explosions, broken bones, flying kicks, helicopters, AND DID I MENTION ELEPHANTS?!

The song being from The RZA doesn’t hurt either.

Lou Ferrigno Puts Jason Segel In A Choke Hold

June 1, 2008

Something like this technically shouldn’t even be worth writing about, seeing as it’s not even a clip from a movie, but a paparazzi video from the set of a movie. A movie, if I may add, that won’t be coming out until January of next year.

But then again, when said video shows LOU FUCKING FERRIGNO putting a sleeper hold on JASON FUCKING SEGEL, that’s a whole different story.

Although, one of my biggest pet peeves would be the mis-identification of wrestling moves in films. In Me, Myself & Irene, Jim Carrey claims that he was "dropkicked" right in the face by Renee Zellweger, but all it was was a simple high kick to the chin.

I also vaguely remember this recent movie where a character jumps off an elevated surface onto his opponent while shouting "Piledriver!" Okay, first of all, you can’t piledrive someone off the top rope (unless you’re Petey Williams pulling off a ridiculous variant of The Canadian Destroyer). And secondly, it wasn’t even close: said character did a basic jumping forearm smash.

Jason Segel also misses the mark here, although not terribly, when he asks" "Is this the Camel Clutch?"

MISTAKE!

http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4172/camelcobrajk4.jpg

However, one may argue that the repercussions of disrupting oxygen and blood flow to your brain by being put in a sleeper hold could lead to dizziness and the loss of balance and coordination, which could easily make the victim confuse one wrestling maneuver with another. In this case, he may have been referring to the Cobra Clutch, which is a variation of the sleeper, as popularized by Sgt. Slaughter. And since this is JASON FUCKING SEGEL, I’ll give him a pass.

The video was shot from the set of I Love You, Man, which stars Paul Rudd (The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Clueless) as a newly engaged man who sets out to find a best man for his wedding. Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, TV’s How I Met Your Mother) is one of his candidates.

The film co-stars Jamie Pressly (Not Another Teen Movie, TV’s My Name Is Earl), Rashida Jones (TV’s The Office and Unhitched), and Thomas Lennon (Balls of Fury, TV’s Reno 911!), whom you can see in the background shouting "Fuck him up, Lou!"

Trailer Tuesday: Step Brothers (Red Band!) Also, Choke.

May 27, 2008

For those of you who may not know, I, Cinemabuzz Writer Guy, recently forayed outside of my family’s businesses, which means that I now have a real job. A job that requires actual jobbing. Hence the lack of updates on this here site.

Speaking of which, wouldn’t it be cool if we all wore edible pants? Not only will I have something ready to eat when I’m hungry while commuting, I shall also have a perennial excuse for not wearing any pants. Like if someone asks "Why aren’t you wearing any pants? And why are you takin— Dude, don’t put that in your mouth, seriousl— Dude that’s your underwear, come on." I’d be all like "SHUT UP THEY’RE EDIBLE."

Anyways, here be the red band trailer for Step Brothers, which reunites the Talladega Nights cohorts - Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. This probably my second most favorite trailer of the year so far, next to the one for The Foot Fist Way.

Much love for the Hall & Oates usage.

Child Stars From the 90s: Where Are They Now? And Are They Bangable?

May 20, 2008

Aaaaaaand we’ve hit an all-time low. Good thing people don’t go to jail for what they write and post on the internet! Wait.

Anyway. Haven’t you ever wondered what’s become of your childhood silver screen crushes from the 90s? And if they’ve super foxily blossomed into womanhood more than a decade later?

However, this entry will focus more on the ladies who’ve been creeping under the radar. Not the Christina Ricci nor the Kirsten Dunst types, because we all know how those two turned out (i.e. one never grew past the height of 4 feet, the other has tits that could out-sag your grandmama’s; both ARE bangable).

On a side-but-completely-related note, I personally had a crush on Michelle Trachtenberg when I was growing up watching her as Nona F. Mecklenberg on The Adventures of Pete & Pete. I was never a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer so I didn’t really see much of her after her Pete & Pete days, so one can only imagine how watching her strip down to a bikini in Eurotrip brought about an array of mixed emotions for me. It felt so wrong, yet oh-so-right.

But like I said, we’ll highlight the ones who pretty much have fallen into obscurity, and the first person that probably popped into your head when you read the title of this entry was "that girl from My Girl."

Anna Chlumsky

You May Remember Her…

As that girl from My Girl. Weren’t you paying attention?

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/2391/anna1he2.jpg

Where Is She Now?

She’s currently filming a movie with James Gandolfini, and completed two other projects earlier this year.

I was also surprised to see that she played a pivotal role in an episode of 30 Rock last year, and I didn’t recognize her. For those who follow the show, you may remember the time when Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) first met Floyd (Jason Sudeikis). Lemon mistakenly received a Valentine’s gift from Floyd, which was intended for his real girlfriend at the time, Liz Lemler from accounting.

Chlumsky was Liz Lemler from accounting.

http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/8348/anna2au1.jpg

Is She Bangable?

Pervy Cinemabuzz Writer Guy gives Ms. Chlumsky a 10/10 face-wise, and a 1/10 for that f’n blouse.

Donnie Darko Sequel; Arcade Fire To Score New Richard Kelly Film

May 18, 2008

The internet has been buzzing this past week over the news that a sequel to Richard Kelly’s 2001 cult hit Donnie Darko is being produced by UK company Velvet Octopus. The good folks over at /Film contacted Kelly’s Darko Entertainment outfit regarding their involvement in the film, and this was Kelly’s reply:

“To set the record straight, here’s a few facts I’d like to share with you all - I haven’t read this script. I have absolutely no involvement with this production, nor will I ever be involved. I have no control over the rights from our original film, and neither I nor my producing partner Sean McKittrick stand to make any money from this film.”

As if that wasn’t bad enough, part two will be retardedly called S. Darko.

Moviesonline.ca has the exclusive teaser poster.

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6454/darko2et7.jpg

The sequel will follow Donnie’s little sister, Samantha, seven years after the events in the first film, as she and her best friend embark on a road trip, during which they will be plagued by "bizarre visions."

Daveigh Chase (Samara from The Ring movies) will reprise her role as Samantha, while Briana Evigan (Step Up 2 The Streets), Ed Westwick (TV’s Gossip Girl), and Justin Chatwin (Goku in the upcoming Dragonball, War of the Worlds) will co-star.

Simon Crowe from Velvet Octopus spoke to Screendaily.com, and assured us that despite Donnie not being involved (because he’s kinda fucking DEAD), there will be "meteorites and rabbits." Wow. That’s very… comforting.

New Hellboy II, The Dark Knight, Punisher: War Zone Posters!

May 17, 2008

Nothing too fancy in this entry, just some sweet-ass new posters from Hellboy II: The Golden Army, The Dark Knight, and Punisher: War Zone.

I didn’t think that Universal could top the Drew Struzan-made Hellboy II: The Golden Army one-sheet which they released at this year’s New York Comic Con, but they managed to do just that, with this stunning poster courtesy of Comingsoon.net.

News On Filipino Sci-Fi Sex and Slaughter Fest "Killdroid"

May 15, 2008

There’s this small film that’s been generating a lot of buzz among movie blogs lately, all thanks to this photo which was released by its producers yesterday:

http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4452/killdroid1wh2.jpg
It’s a woman in a short skirt bending over what appears to be a cryogenic chamber, and it definitely caught my attention, in the crotchal area.

So I did a little more research and found one truly cool thing about it, and it’s the fact that this film, Killdroid: A Mechanical Love Affair, is a collaboration between American DVD label Mondo Macabro and Filipino writer-director Rico Maria Ilarde.

Ilarde directed Altar for Cinema One last year, and helmed the "Aquarium" episode of Shake, Rattle and Roll 2K5 in, duh, the year 2K5.

Mondo Macabre is no stranger to Filipino shock exploiters either, having released titles such as Aswang, and the critically-acclaimed Silip: Daughters of Eve. The latter (which stars former Miss Philippines Maria Isabel Lopez, Sarsi Emmanuelle, and Myra Manibog) was even voted in the Top 25 DVD releases of 2007 by Mr. Skin.

The company is also responsible for introducing the now-cult favorite For Y’ur Height Only (which stars 2′9" Filipino action star Weng Weng as Agent 00) to the Western World with its release of the title on DVD in 2005.

Anyway, Twitch received an announcement regarding the film, and it details the movie’s plot:

This is the intriguingly entitled KILLDROID, a collaboration with Philippine-based writer-director Rico Maria Ilarde. The film, described as “a mechanical love affair”, tells of a disturbed Goth schoolgirl who stumbles unwittingly across the remnants of a long abandoned military project designed to create an army of android killers from the processed bodies of dead soldiers. The girl takes on the mysteriously beautiful Killdroid as a lover, only to discover, too late, that its insatiable sexual appetite is inexorably linked with a need for slaughter.

Impressionable goth school girl? Killer robot android with a sex addiction? COUNT ME THE FUCK IN.

Max Payne, BioShock, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto Movie Updates! Hot Damn!

May 14, 2008

Wipe that shit-eating grin off your face because it’s Wednesday! And you know what that means! Do you? Because I don’t!

First off, Filmschoolrejects.com has new photos from the set of Max Payne, which stars Mark Wahlberg as the title character and Mila Kunis as Mona Sax.

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/7992/maxpayne01wv6.jpg

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/5058/maxpayne03ta7.jpg

That last one is obviously an overhead shot of dead bodies, which would come as no surprise since this film, after all, was based on a game where you shoot people and stuff.

From my end, I’d put the body count at nine: one for each blood stain (that makes 7), another one being at the upper right side (with the guy standing over it), and the last one on the upper left side, by the boxes. Considering its size, it’s either a midget or a puppy, and given the lack of a blood stain, said midget or puppy could very well have been strangled or poisoned. Either way, it’s awesome.

You can view the rest of the photos by clicking here

The film co-stars Beau Bridges (TV’s Stargate: SG-1 and My Name Is Earl), Chris O’ Donnell (Batman Forever,  Vertical Limit), Ludacris (2 Fast 2 Furious, Crash), Donal Logue (TV’s The Knights of Prosperity and Grounded For Life), and Amaury Nolasco (Transformers, TV’s Prison Break), and is set to be released on October 17 later this year.
