Casting Cabana: The Spirit (Sausage Fest)
April 16, 2008We kick off a series of Casting Cabanas with a shot of testosterone: an all-sausage post featuring the gents of The Spirit.
Denny Colt is a young detective who was presumed dead in the first few pages in the premiere story of Will Eisner’s weeklies in 1940. With his newfound anonymity, Colt re-christens himself The Spirit, a masked vigilante who rids crime in the streets of Central City.

Macht steadily landed supporting roles in old-and-young-Hollywood-tandem actioners such as Behind Enemy Lines (with Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson), The Recruit (with Al Pacino and Colin Farrell), and Bad Company (with Anthony Hopkins and Chris Rock) earlier in the decade, and this film definitely comes as his biggest break. After all, taking a first glance at the guy, one would likely surmise: “(Scoffs) Poor man’s Josh Lucas.”
