Killdroid Teaser! And More Photos!

June 22, 2008

So I did a little more sleuthing on this upcoming film that I wrote about before. The film is called Killdroid: A Mechanical Love Affair, and is directed by Filipino auteur Rico Maria Ilarde. Anyway, it turns out that the film’s teaser has been released by its US distributor, Mondo Macabro.

And holy shit, was that terrible. Not “terrible” in a “so bad it’s bound to be awesome kind of like Snakes On A Plane-terrible,” but just “terrible-terrible.”

I don’t know, there’s something about scoring Filipino movies that makes it seem like they’ve been using the same intruments and technology since the 1980s. The cinematography is beautiful, though. But it was poorly paced and THERE WERE NO TITS.

Considering how they’ve initially marketed this as an erotic gorefest, they should’ve went for the jugular and released a 2-minute red band montage of blood and tits. I’m hoping that that would be the case when they shell out a new trailer.

Trailer Tuesday: Step Brothers (Red Band!) Also, Choke.

May 27, 2008

For those of you who may not know, I, Cinemabuzz Writer Guy, recently forayed outside of my family’s businesses, which means that I now have a real job. A job that requires actual jobbing. Hence the lack of updates on this here site.

Speaking of which, wouldn’t it be cool if we all wore edible pants? Not only will I have something ready to eat when I’m hungry while commuting, I shall also have a perennial excuse for not wearing any pants. Like if someone asks "Why aren’t you wearing any pants? And why are you takin— Dude, don’t put that in your mouth, seriousl— Dude that’s your underwear, come on." I’d be all like "SHUT UP THEY’RE EDIBLE."

Anyways, here be the red band trailer for Step Brothers, which reunites the Talladega Nights cohorts - Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. This probably my second most favorite trailer of the year so far, next to the one for The Foot Fist Way.

Much love for the Hall & Oates usage.

Trailer Tuesday: X-Files: I Want To Believe

May 13, 2008

"I Want To Believe?!" More like "I Want A Better Title!" AM I RIGHT?!?

Okay. Anyway, new trailer!

And like I did with The Incredible Hulk trailer before, I took a few snapshots of scenes which you may have missed from the clip.

Scully appears to have returned to practicing medicine. Mulder: "I need you on this with me."

Xzibit, looking like he just got goatse’d by a midget in a cooler. (What? It can happen.)

Okay, I honestly don’t know what in the shit this is. But it kind of reminds me of Willem Dafoe in Shadow of the Vampire.

Trailer Tuesday: Twilight, The Dark Knight, Indy 4, Hancock

May 6, 2008

I could’ve posted the latter three yesterday but "Trailer Monday" doesn’t sound as spiffy, does it?

Anyway, I woke up today to my sister squealing and running around in her room across the hall. She opened my door and yelled at me like a fucking devil banshee and asked for my help with something on her laptop. I groggily walked to her bedroom to address the task at hand, which turned out to be ripping a flash video off of Myspace. Said video was the teaser trailer for this new movie called Twilight.

It’s based off a string of books by Stephanie Meyer about a small town girl and some vampires, and if my research is correct (and by "research" I mean "asking my sister what in the hell these books are and if she’s sure that she’s not the only one reading this shit"), it’s only second to the Harry Potter series in terms of sales figures for titles geared towards young adolescents.

The movie stars Kristen Stewart (Zathura, Into the Wild) and Robert Pattinson ("Cedric Diggory" in the Harry Potter movies) and is set for a December 12, 2008 release.

Brand New Incredible Hulk Trailer, Screenshots

May 3, 2008

A new trailer for The Incredible Hulk has surfaced online, and I suppose that this will front Iron Man as it opens across North American theaters today.

What I find odd is that we here in the Philippines were treated to the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer before every Iron Man screening, but it was the same Incredible Hulk teaser released a few weeks back which also accompanied it.

Anyway, some cuts in the trailer were fast and furious, and there might have been a couple of things that you missed. So I took the liberty of taking half a dozen screenshots which you might find interesting, starting off with this encounter between our not-so-jolly green giant and Tim Roth (Emil Blonsky/The Abomination).

The Dark Knight Trailer! Okay!

April 29, 2008

So apparently, the last viral campaign by The Dark Knight didn’t simply result in an announcement as to when the trailer will premiere (this Sunday). It’s just that the online participants were led to the Happy Trails site where it mentioned the release of the new trailer.

On the other hand, their partners on the ground were instructed to enter a particular cinema in their respective cities, where they were treated to the trailer, and one fan managed to snag a video. Grab it while you can:

This is definitely the one which was also shown at the New York Comic Con two weekends ago, as described here.

Check back on Sunday or Monday, as we’ll definitely bring you the official trailer when it’s released.

Thanks to thegreatest for the heads up.

The Spirit Teaser Finally Online!

April 20, 2008

And I’m pretty sure this is kind of illegal, but what the hell. I credited MTV.com anyway.

Sin City had a vibe which translated impeccably to the screen, and it’s becoming very clear that Frank Miller is going to pattern The Spirit after it.

Honestly, I wasn’t all too familiar and this immensed with the source material until after I found out about a big screen version being made, so I have no qualms. As a general film aficionado and an occasional comic book fan, I really, really, really am excited to see this.

MTV also has some interviews up with Frank Miller and Eva Mendes which you can view by clicking here.

So what do you guys think? Does anyone have any complaints as to the film’s apparent unfaithfulness to Eisner’s work?

Weekly Roundup: 04/13/08

April 13, 2008

We’re taking a break from Spirit Week to give you another Roundup, but in keeping with the spirit (See what I did there?) of The Spirit’s adapted nature, every bit of news that we’ll be bringing you this week will be about films based on other media (books, comics, shoes).

Anyway, I have to be at a cousin’s wedding (Marriage?! Love?! Happiness?! SNOOORE!) in the afternoon so let’s get down to business:

1. Punisher: War Zone has been pushed back from an originally slated September 12th release to December 5th. In other Punisher-related news, the film’s director, Lexi Alexander, is really, really, really hot. That’s her with Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle (right) and his stunt double.

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/1365/punisherki7.jpg

And aside from being really, really, really hot, she apparently also has a dirty, filthy, whorish mouth. Here’s what she had to say after being told by her reps that a December release would benefit the film’s box office tally:

I myself would have thought that people will think twice about going to see an extremely violent movie the closer it gets to Jesus’ B-day, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or whatever other holy holiday you’re celebrating. Well, the box office records prove different and instead, all you sick fucks get more blood thirsty that time of year. (And I say that with lovingly affection, cause I’m relying on all the sick fucks to show up).

MARRY ME.

2. In an interview with Howard Stern this week, director Jason Reitman (Juno, Thank You For Smoking) revealed that he recently turned down an offer to direct Justice League of America.

3. Tony Stark does some thrust capacity tests in this new, 2-minute clip from Iron Man.

Weekly Roundup: 03/30/08 - Supersized!

March 30, 2008

I’m out for the weekend, so as this article automatically goes live on this presumably bright Sunday morning, it’d still feel like I’m right behind the computer, talking to you and posting this article. When in reality, I’m probably passed out on the floor of my friend’s house and oddly missing my personal and monetary belongings, with the words “I’M SKEET ULRICH” written on my forehead with a marker.

Now Summer, I hate you and your hot, summery ways, but if you promise to make me wake up hung over and with “I’M SKEET ULRICH” temporarily tattooed to my forehead more often, I shall promise to not hate you as much in return. We cool? Great. Shake and bake?

Anyway, as implied by the title, this will be the biggest Weekly Roundup yet. So whip out your pistols and shine your horses (?) boys and girls, and get ready for a rootin’-tootin’, bandwidth-rapin’ good time as I present to you this week’s roundup! SUPERSIZED!

1. I AM IIIRON MOOONGERRR! Okay so that doesn’t really work without me quasi-singing it. But lookit! Iron Monger is about to kill Tony Stark with A FRIGGIN’ CAR! Two more photos can be found at Yahoo!.

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/3190/ironmongerdq4.jpg

2. Matthew Fox, looking like he desperately needs to take a shit but finds it necessary to beat up this goon who kinda resembles Robert Englund first, as Racer X in the Wachowski Brothers’ upcoming Speed Racer movie. More photos at Firstshowing.net

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/506/speedracerbx9.jpg

3. Did I not tell you that this was going to be the biggest Weekly Roundup ever? Check out this Will Smith action shot as he plays the titular hobo-hero in Hancock. You can view more photos of Smith and co-star/man-god Jason Bateman at DVD-forum.at
