Lou Ferrigno Puts Jason Segel In A Choke Hold
June 1, 2008Something like this technically shouldn’t even be worth writing about, seeing as it’s not even a clip from a movie, but a paparazzi video from the set of a movie. A movie, if I may add, that won’t be coming out until January of next year.
But then again, when said video shows LOU FUCKING FERRIGNO putting a sleeper hold on JASON FUCKING SEGEL, that’s a whole different story.
Although, one of my biggest pet peeves would be the mis-identification of wrestling moves in films. In Me, Myself & Irene, Jim Carrey claims that he was "dropkicked" right in the face by Renee Zellweger, but all it was was a simple high kick to the chin.
I also vaguely remember this recent movie where a character jumps off an elevated surface onto his opponent while shouting "Piledriver!" Okay, first of all, you can’t piledrive someone off the top rope (unless you’re Petey Williams pulling off a ridiculous variant of The Canadian Destroyer). And secondly, it wasn’t even close: said character did a basic jumping forearm smash.
Jason Segel also misses the mark here, although not terribly, when he asks" "Is this the Camel Clutch?"
MISTAKE!

However, one may argue that the repercussions of disrupting oxygen and blood flow to your brain by being put in a sleeper hold could lead to dizziness and the loss of balance and coordination, which could easily make the victim confuse one wrestling maneuver with another. In this case, he may have been referring to the Cobra Clutch, which is a variation of the sleeper, as popularized by Sgt. Slaughter. And since this is JASON FUCKING SEGEL, I’ll give him a pass.
The video was shot from the set of I Love You, Man, which stars Paul Rudd (The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Clueless) as a newly engaged man who sets out to find a best man for his wedding. Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, TV’s How I Met Your Mother) is one of his candidates.
The film co-stars Jamie Pressly (Not Another Teen Movie, TV’s My Name Is Earl), Rashida Jones (TV’s The Office and Unhitched), and Thomas Lennon (Balls of Fury, TV’s Reno 911!), whom you can see in the background shouting "Fuck him up, Lou!"

Iron Man Opens TODAY; Clips from the Set
April 30, 2008
First of all, the third and final part of Cinemabuzz, Face Rockery, and Comicology’s list of The Fifteen Best Comic Book Movies of All Time is now online! And you can read it by clicking here.
And in case you missed it, here are Part One and Part Two of our List.
Now, onto Iron Man. It opens in Philippine theaters today, and Comicology and myself were invited to tonight’s block screening at Glorietta by Solar Entertainment and ETC. So we’ll have those spoiler-free reviews up by tomorrow.
I’m kind of in a hurry because I need to get a wax (it’s my pre-movie-watchnig habit okay), so I’ll simply be treating you to a couple of clips from the making of Iron Man.
Jon Favreau, the director, tours the set on his Segway in these two videos, so that’s bound to be awesome.
Hellboy II, Spirit, Dark Knight, Watchmen Updates From NYCC ‘08
April 23, 2008
-More big news broke out over the weekend at the New York Comic Con, and this one involves a major change in the lineup for Hellboy II: The Golden Army. For reasons yet to be disclosed, Thomas Kretschmann has dropped out of production as the voice of Johann Kraus.
Seth MacFarlane, the creator and primary voice talent of Family Guy and American Dad, has been tapped to replace Kretschmann.
-IGN has an interview up with Eva Mendes, who plays Sand Saref in the big-screen adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit. In the clip, she reveals that she shows her ass in the film.
High fives. High Fives all around.
The Spirit Teaser Finally Online!
April 20, 2008
And I’m pretty sure this is kind of illegal, but what the hell. I credited MTV.com anyway.
Sin City had a vibe which translated impeccably to the screen, and it’s becoming very clear that Frank Miller is going to pattern The Spirit after it.
Honestly, I wasn’t all too familiar and this immensed with the source material until after I found out about a big screen version being made, so I have no qualms. As a general film aficionado and an occasional comic book fan, I really, really, really am excited to see this.
MTV also has some interviews up with Frank Miller and Eva Mendes which you can view by clicking here.
So what do you guys think? Does anyone have any complaints as to the film’s apparent unfaithfulness to Eisner’s work?
Weekly Roundup: 04/13/08
April 13, 2008We’re taking a break from Spirit Week to give you another Roundup, but in keeping with the spirit (See what I did there?) of The Spirit’s adapted nature, every bit of news that we’ll be bringing you this week will be about films based on other media (books, comics, shoes).
Anyway, I have to be at a cousin’s wedding (Marriage?! Love?! Happiness?! SNOOORE!) in the afternoon so let’s get down to business:
1. Punisher: War Zone has been pushed back from an originally slated September 12th release to December 5th. In other Punisher-related news, the film’s director, Lexi Alexander, is really, really, really hot. That’s her with Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle (right) and his stunt double.

And aside from being really, really, really hot, she apparently also has a dirty, filthy, whorish mouth. Here’s what she had to say after being told by her reps that a December release would benefit the film’s box office tally:
I myself would have thought that people will think twice about going to see an extremely violent movie the closer it gets to Jesus’ B-day, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or whatever other holy holiday you’re celebrating. Well, the box office records prove different and instead, all you sick fucks get more blood thirsty that time of year. (And I say that with lovingly affection, cause I’m relying on all the sick fucks to show up).
MARRY ME.
2. In an interview with Howard Stern this week, director Jason Reitman (Juno, Thank You For Smoking) revealed that he recently turned down an offer to direct Justice League of America.
3. Tony Stark does some thrust capacity tests in this new, 2-minute clip from Iron Man.

New Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk Clips!
April 8, 2008There are no words. But I managed to put my being speechless into words! Weird! Okay!
First up is a brand new clip from Iron Man, which features Tony Stark doing test flights for his Mark 2 armor. At least I think that’s his Mark 2. I was kind of hypnotized by his freakishly perfect mustache. Help with the geek talk, Comicology?

And we’ve got two and a half minutes’ worth of spankin’ new footage from The Incredible Hulk, including a little insight into The Abomination, and some gratuitous shots of Lou Ferrigno’s arm from the live action TV series. Producer Kevin Feige and director Louis Letterier also offer their comments here.

Iron Man zooms and The Incredible Hulk smashes into theaters this May 2nd and June 13th, respectively. Fanboys ejaculate into their trousers on the same dates. I’m just sayin’.
